Last weekend, the twelfth edition of the Vela Luka Outdoors event was held, organized by the Vela Luka Tourist Board and HPD Mareta Vela Luka, and with the support of the Vela Luka Municipality, the Dubrovnik-Neretva County Tourist Board, the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, and numerous partners and sponsors.
The program began on Friday evening in Žardin with a travelogue lecture by Jurica Galić Juka entitled “Tribes and Customs”, during which visitors learned about the culture and customs of Indonesia through photographs and stories. A rich program for children and youth was organized on Friday and Saturday, including the BMX Challenge and climbing on an artificial rock, and three children’s races around the park were held for children under 10 years of age, which were a kind of overture to the main competition program. More than 200 children participated in all children’s activities. The central part of the event were the trail races Malahni Trail (6 km), Mali Trail (12 km) and Veli Trail (24 km), in which around 150 competitors from Croatia and abroad took part. Around 50 volunteers also participated in the organization of the event, whose contribution was crucial for the successful implementation of all activities.
The awards to the most successful competitors were presented by the director of the Vela Luka Tourist Board Dorjan Dragojević, the mayor of the Vela Luka Municipality Katarina Gugić, the representative of the Pharmacy Vaše zdravlje Martina Tasovac and Vinko Prizmić, the founder of Vela Luka Outdoors and the long-time head of the HGSS.
