Regarding the announcements regarding Regulation (EU) 2024/1028 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 April 2024 on the collection and exchange of data on short-term accommodation rental services and amending Regulation (EU) 2018/1724 (hereinafter: Regulation (EU) 2024/1028), which refers to the obligation to obtain a registration number for those who rent out rooms, apartments (studio apartments) and holiday homes, we would like to inform you that the aforementioned obligation in Croatia will enter into force at the beginning of 2027, and the Ministry will inform about the exact date after the adoption of the new Hospitality Act.
Important!
At this moment, there is NO OBLIGATION to obtain a Registration Number for advertising on online platforms,
those obliged to obtain a registration number will be:
owners (legal entities and natural persons) of rooms, apartments (studio apartments), holiday homes who advertise their facilities on short-term accommodation rental platforms (an online platform for short-term accommodation rental that allows guests to conclude remote contracts with landlords/caterers for the provision of short-term accommodation rental services), those obliged to obtain and display a registration number on the platforms in the following year, 2027, the registration number will be completely free, digitalized and simple for everyone, and the registration number will be issued upon request by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the introduction of registration numbers prevents advertising by those who rent facilities without obtaining the necessary solution (registration), and aims to reduce the occurrence of illegal competition to landlords/caterers who operate legally.
